Katie Kawa is a native of Buffalo, N.Y., and a genetically predisposed Buffalo sports fan. She is currently attending Canisius College in Buffalo with plans to graduate in 2010 with a dual major in English and Communication Studies. Her hope is to become a journalist, and she is honing her craft by working as a sports reporter and copy editor for the Canisius newspaper The Griffin. She is the mind behind the Buffalo Sabres blog Muckers and Grinders, which celebrates her love of hard-working, hard-hitting hockey players. Scott Michalak was born in Buffalo, New York, and has since traveled and lived in places such as England, Belgium, Australia, and around the continental United States.
Throughout his travels, he has enjoyed submitting heaps of work to a large range of street rags and local journals, sometimes for free, and sometimes for just enough remuneration to whet his whistle. Performance of his work, including music, has been enjoyed on several continents. He is now settled, likely permanently, back in Buffalo, collecting snow on his nose and pursuing a true professional writing career.
He is currently working as a beat reporter for The Hamburg Sun newspaper, and has recently joined the contributing staff of Buffalo Rising Magazine. He is also a Team Manager for ProSportsDaily.com (check out those "Sabres Team Factoids" for some true bloggish satisfaction) and recently joined the FAN Awards Network as their WNY representative.
